Organized Age

I believe that there's a prime time in a child's age that it is easier for them to learn to be organized and learn orderliness. I notice that in all 3 of my kids, somewhere between 2 to 3 years old they become more organized. I notice this when they play. I then set a system for their toys. I use boxes, Tupperware/ containers and now drawers to keep their things organized. Today, they arrange their toy box on their own and when they can't managed to maintain the order, they will call me to help them. I realized that it's become a healthy habit. And they are less untidy. Labeling boxes are also useful and it helps them to read and recognize the labels/ words too. The top picture, is arranged by Dylan himself. Pictures below is done by Caylie and Dayson.

Caylie's now 8.

Caylie turned 8 and as I watched her, I realized how much she's grown. Amazing! She wants to be a designer but she's not sure what type of designer. There's so many and there's such a wide range. So we're learning, researching and discovering more with her. We are proud of her and just last Sunday she share to all of us that during the service, she was shy to dance for the Lord, then the Spirit of the God touched her and He took away her fear and shyness and she danced. What an experience.

Booster Statement from children.

I was totally exhausted after a long day's work. So I told my kids to wash up and we'll all sleep early because mommy is tired. Then they ask me why I was tired, so I explain that I woke up extra early at 6am to cook for Caylie's birthday Party, then we had to hurry to be at church by 8:30am, then lunch party, and clean up. So I was tired. Then they ask me, why mommy work so hard? So I went on to explain that I wanted Jie Caylie to have a great Party and I wanted to be the best mommy I can ever be. ( I was so tired.. I just shared what was my intentions to my kids.. hhmm..) To my surprise, immediately Dylan said, 'But you already are, mommy.' I was speachless."Yes, mommy, you already are." said Dayson and Caylie. I was so touched.
Today, these words keeps me strong and going. And I'll always treasure these words.
My kids taught me an important lesson in life that WORDS are powerful, it can give life and are like boosters, or energy force. If use wrongly it can bring damage to others.

Discovery

It's a time of personal gifts discovery. So I've been trying to explore and observe my kids as they play and pick up new skills along the way. Trying to figure out their strengths. I got Dylan to post for me a picture, and he did! Caylie enjoys art and crafts. Dayson decided to pick up guitar lessons. Interesting. This is all part of our discovery journey as a family. Caleb is busy cooking dinner, yup. Saturday is my day off the kitchen! And Caleb cooks for the family on Saturdays. So, tonight we're having herbal chicken soup. Today's soup is for the strengthening of the lungs. Interesting, I didn't know there are so many types of herbal soups for different purposes.

Creativity

Creativity. This is something I'm not good at, really. But I'm so surprise with my kids. It all started when Dylan said, 'mommy, I want a boat to play with in the water/tub.' I replied him, I don't have a toy boat but maybe you can make one?' And he took the challenge and make it out of his toys. Dayson followed too. At first, Dylan's first boat prototype sank because it had holes. But his second attempt it float! Dayson learned from his elder brother and they boat had fun creating their boats that floats. And testing it to make sure it floats.

Youg Ambassador Holiday Program: Cert.

Experience:
I attended the event where a number of orphanage homes participated in it. The children had great time and fun over a 3 full days program. It was truly a profitable moment because these children were blessed by various volunteers. I am sure the life and time spent together over the 3 days meant a lot to them.

There are 2 variants on the Certificate of Appreciation and 1 Certificate of Completion.

Weekends

We've been busy the last couple of weeks and unable to update our blog. Every Saturday is time where Caleb works with the kids and teaches them how to maintain their tortoise and the aquarium. They have to learn to clean it and wash it and feed their tortoises. Can be interesting, but it's a daddy's job! : ) So far, so good!

Boyz are down with cough.

Both Dylan and Dayson are down with cough. Dylan also has a mild fever. I'm giving them Spirulina often besides lots of water. It's said to help bring the fever down and it seems to be working on them. Pray that they will recover fast. Thanks! Caylie is strong and healthy.

Travel tips 2

I've learn some things during this trip, it took us about 4 to 5 hours back to KL. It was a fulfilling trip to JB and Singapore. We managed to catch up with theSims who we miss dearly. Ok, back to the travel tips for kids.

1. Bath towels are amazingly handy. My mom taught me this tip. Towels can become blanket for the kids when it gets cold on rainy days. Towels can dry the kids if they dirty themselves and need a bath (emergency case). Towels can use as umbrellas to wrap ourselves on a rainy day. I stuff our bath towels into a pillow case, to keep it clean and it becomes a pillow. Towels can become bolsters. We always travel with 3 bath towels in a pillow case.

2. 100 plus is good to bring along as well. On the way back, Dylan felt sick and wanted to throw up. We gave him 100 plus, that helps to reduce nausea, even with adults. I shared a can with Dylan, I get carsick too. A good stop is important. Caleb managed to get us a good stop place and we got the children to get down and have a walk, this breaks helps to reduce the sickness too. Speaking of car sick, because I get carsick and have to see to the kids, I've to avoid myself bending down when the car is moving to avoid feeling sick. So all my travel tools need to be handy and convenient. This brings us to the next point.

3. Handy tools: Plastic bags for trash and unexpected emergencies (in case kids throw up). I always hand a plastic bag behind the front seat in front of me. The children knows that's the trash, and the car is kept clean. Wet wipes and toilet paper or tissue paper is a must. They are at easy reachable places like beside me.

4. The handy surprise I got for my kids this time is a set of markers and coloring book. It helped to keep them occupied for the 4 days trip and especially in meetings and while waiting for food in restaurants.

5. In travels, make sure children get plenty of water and fluids. I'm not so concern if they can't eat much, but rather they drink plenty.

6. Of cause it's good to have family or friends on the journey. Especially for me with 3 kids, my family are a blessing and help. With mom, dad and Anna with us. It was fun!

I will share more as we go along... and learn...

Travelling with Children

As a family we travel a lot. In our travels we have our program which includes meetings and appointments. In all our programs, our children are apart of it too. I've learn that it's very crucial to prepare our children before hand. Since Caylie was as young as a baby, we've spoken to her to prepare her for all our travels near and far. We constantly communicate to her to prepare her of what to expect. I remember saying ' mommy and daddy is bringing you to the shopping mall and there's lots of things to see'. Caylie's first travel was to Pangkor Island when she was 6 weeks old for a Youth Camp.(we had to take the ferry across too!) That was my first time travelling with my little one. I even did a check list that carried me through Dayson's travels. We also did the same with Dylan and Dayson since they were babies. Dylan's first travel was to Convention at Gentings when he was 12 weeks old. Dayson's first travel was also when he was 8 weeks old.

The most important part of the travel is the preparation. Before the travel. I would and still drawing our program so our children will know our schedule and flow along. We discuss with them and we also add in fun and special surprises for them. They are prepared knowing that we have to go for a meeting, then later that day, we'll take them out or spend the evening with them or we'll have supper time with them. So they have something in the program to look forward too. And it prepares them for the meeting as well, as they have to keep themselves occupied. When the kids are happy.. we'll all have a great time.

Another important area is to pack 'home' along. Every child has something special that they are attached too. Like a pillow or toy. Even favorite snack food, books, etc. All these needs to bring into consideration when packing. We'll be going on a short travel, so I'm packing and while packing, decided to share a few things that I do that maybe a help to others planning to travel too. It's going to be a 5 hours drive, so I'm packing for the road activities for kids. (I'll share more on the road helpful tools on Next)
Oh, it's helpful to do a check list to reduce the risk of forgetting something, especially if it's a 'can't leave home without it' type for the kids.

Work Out time!

Like Father, Like Son. For the first time we bought Dylan and Dayson singles as it's hot here in Malaysia. The singles got our boys started to realized that they wanted to show off their muscles just like daddy's. So it was in then that they started their work out with daddy as their personal coach! To save cost, i gave the boys bake beans cans as dumb bells. They were satisfied and since then it's easier to put them to bed at nights too!

Of cause, daddy had to do his work out too. As he became the human exercise playground. So, keep kids fit while they are young!

Our visit to Grandpa's Orchard.

It's harvest time!! Lots of yummy ripe fruits. It was a windy day. We managed to harvest Rambutans and give to the fathers in church for Father's Day. Just as we finished, the rain came. It's a joy to see so many happy faces receiving those Rambutans, for me it's a greater joy to taste them!! Yum!!

Happy Father's Day!

Thank you for praying for Caleb, he has fully recovered and we had an enjoyable Father's Day celebration together.

Caleb has been an extraordinary father to our children, Caylie, Dylan and Dayson. He has been sacrificial in many ways and he has been a pillar of strength to me and our kids. The responsibility of a father is great and it can be pressurising at times, but Caleb demostrated the love of God and brought our family through rough times with joy. He made our lives complete. "Happy Father's Day, Honey! And Thank you for sharing your life with us". We love you!

As we celebrate Father's Day, I am truly grateful to my dad who raised me up in the ways of God and he has taught me many principles in life. He is a very patient father and he makes effort to understand each of our different personalities. Today, he is a grandfather to my children and I am proud of him.

Please pray for us...

Today, Caleb fell sick. Vomiting and flu. The doctor said it's a stomach virus. So he's on medication. Do pray that he will recover quickly. God is a God of miracles. I believe He heals! Amen!!

Time with Daddy

As young as they are they are proud to learn from their daddy. Here, daddy took some time to introduce sword to them, just to hold it, my 3 kids are overwhelm. It's good to pass down skills and talents to our children.
